β-d-fructose 2,6-bisphosphate is soluble (in water) and an extremely strong acidic compound (based on its pKa). β-d-fructose 2,6-bisphosphate can be found in a number of food items such as chinese mustard, mexican oregano, chickpea, and saskatoon berry, which makes β-d-fructose 2,6-bisphosphate a potential biomarker for the consumption of these food products.
