Phosphoribulosylformimino-aicar-p is a member of the class of compounds known as 1-ribosyl-imidazolecarboxamides. 1-ribosyl-imidazolecarboxamides are organic compounds containing the imidazole ring linked to a ribose ring through a 1-2 bond. Phosphoribulosylformimino-aicar-p is slightly soluble (in water) and a moderately acidic compound (based on its pKa). Phosphoribulosylformimino-aicar-p can be found in a number of food items such as anise, buffalo currant, avocado, and borage, which makes phosphoribulosylformimino-aicar-p a potential biomarker for the consumption of these food products.
