描述
Phosphoribosyl-formamido-carboxamide, also known as faicar or 5'-P-ribosyl-5-formamido-4-imidazole carboxamide, is a member of the class of compounds known as 1-ribosyl-imidazolecarboxamides. 1-ribosyl-imidazolecarboxamides are organic compounds containing the imidazole ring linked to a ribose ring through a 1-2 bond. Phosphoribosyl-formamido-carboxamide is slightly soluble (in water) and a moderately acidic compound (based on its pKa). Phosphoribosyl-formamido-carboxamide can be found in a number of food items such as boysenberry, hyacinth bean, quinoa, and eggplant, which makes phosphoribosyl-formamido-carboxamide a potential biomarker for the consumption of these food products. Phosphoribosyl-formamido-carboxamide exists in all living species, ranging from bacteria to humans. In humans, phosphoribosyl-formamido-carboxamide is involved in few metabolic pathways, which include azathioprine action pathway, mercaptopurine action pathway, purine metabolism, and thioguanine action pathway. Phosphoribosyl-formamido-carboxamide is also involved in several metabolic disorders, some of which include adenosine deaminase deficiency, aICA-Ribosiduria, adenylosuccinate lyase deficiency, and adenine phosphoribosyltransferase deficiency (APRT).
