N6-(Δ2-isopentenyl)-adenosine 5'-diphosphate, also known as isopentenyladenosine-5'-diphosphoric acid(3-) or isopentenyl-adp(3-), is a member of the class of compounds known as purine ribonucleoside diphosphates. Purine ribonucleoside diphosphates are purine ribobucleotides with diphosphate group linked to the ribose moiety. N6-(Δ2-isopentenyl)-adenosine 5'-diphosphate is slightly soluble (in water) and a moderately acidic compound (based on its pKa). N6-(Δ2-isopentenyl)-adenosine 5'-diphosphate can be found in a number of food items such as acerola, soursop, pepper (c. chinense), and black mulberry, which makes n6-(Δ2-isopentenyl)-adenosine 5'-diphosphate a potential biomarker for the consumption of these food products.
