3-demethylubiquinol-10 is a member of the class of compounds known as polyprenylbenzene-1,2-diols. Polyprenylbenzene-1,2-diols are compounds containing a polyisoprene chain attached to a catechol group. 3-demethylubiquinol-10 is practically insoluble (in water) and a very weakly acidic compound (based on its pKa). 3-demethylubiquinol-10 can be found in a number of food items such as cherry tomato, groundcherry, italian sweet red pepper, and ohelo berry, which makes 3-demethylubiquinol-10 a potential biomarker for the consumption of these food products.
