(S)-3-Hydroxy-N-methylcoclaurine is an intermediate in the biosynthesis of alkaloids (KEGG ID C05202). It is the 10th to last step in the synthesis of morphine and is converted from (s)-N-methylcoclaurine via the enzyme tyrosinase [EC:1.14.18.1]. It is then converted to (S)-reticuline. [HMDB]
