Aesculin is a glucoside that naturally occurs in the horse chestnut (Aesculus hippocastanum), California Buckeye (Aesculus californica) and in daphnin (the dark green resin of Daphne mezereum). Aesculin is found in many foods, some of which are barley, mugwort, chicory, and lentils.
