3,5,7-trihydroxy-8-methoxy-2-(4-methoxyphenyl)-3,4-dihydro-2h-1-benzopyran-4-one is a member of the class of compounds known as 8-o-methylated flavonoids. 8-o-methylated flavonoids are flavonoids with methoxy groups attached to the C8 atom of the flavonoid backbone. 3,5,7-trihydroxy-8-methoxy-2-(4-methoxyphenyl)-3,4-dihydro-2h-1-benzopyran-4-one is practically insoluble (in water) and a very weakly acidic compound (based on its pKa). 3,5,7-trihydroxy-8-methoxy-2-(4-methoxyphenyl)-3,4-dihydro-2h-1-benzopyran-4-one can be found in european plum, which makes 3,5,7-trihydroxy-8-methoxy-2-(4-methoxyphenyl)-3,4-dihydro-2h-1-benzopyran-4-one a potential biomarker for the consumption of this food product.
