MBOCA's carcinogenicity is thought to be a result of its ability to bind to DNA, hemoglobin, and serum albumin. N-oxidized MBOCA metabolites, such as n-hydroxy MBOCA and mononitroso-MBOCA, have been shown to form hemoglobin adducts. (L891)
