TPMT enzyme activity measured by radiochemical enzymatic assay, based on methylation of 6-mercaptopurine with [14C-methyl]-S-adenosyl-L-methionine as the methyl donor. Patients with these particular genotypes were identified as having very low or absent TPMT activity.
