Patients with a HCV genotype I infection and the rs12979860 CC genotype may have an increased response to treatment with interferons as compared to patients with the CT or TT genotypes. However, this association was not found in patients with HCV genotype II infections. Other genetic and clinical factors may also affect response to treatment with interferons.
