Patients with non-small cell lung cancer and the GG genotype may experience a decreased severity of thrombocytopenia when treated with carboplatin and gemcitabine as compared to patients with the AA or AG genotypes. Other genetic and clinical factors may also affect severity of thrombocytopenia.
